Is this website a real booking system?

Accepted Answer

No. LUMORA is a front-end demonstration — a design and development template, not a trading business. Nothing submitted through the booking flow reaches a diary, a person or a payment processor, and no appointment selected here is a real reservation. The address, phone number and email used throughout the site are illustrative placeholders for the same reason.

How far ahead should I book?

Accepted Answer

Two to three weeks for most artists, and closer to six for Inés Varga, who runs a waitlist rather than an open diary. Tomas Reinholt usually has the most availability, largely because people do not think to ask for a beard specialist until they have met one. If you are on a fortnightly fade cycle, book the next appointment before you leave the chair.

Do you take walk-ins?

Accepted Answer

Only on Sundays, between 11:00 and 16:00. It is first come, first served, with no list and no phone reservations — Kofi insisted that window stay free of a booking system and he was right. Every other day is appointment only, because the consultation makes the timings too specific to improvise.

Can I book with a specific artist?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and you should. The five artists on the floor specialise deliberately rather than interchangeably — clipper architecture, curl and texture, editorial shapes, razor work, long layering. If you are unsure, book The Signature Cut with whoever is free and say so at the desk; we will route you to the right hand for the next visit.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Give us twenty-four hours and there is no charge — call the studio on +44 20 7946 0812 or email studio@lumora.example. Inside twenty-four hours we ask for half the appointment value, not as a penalty but because an artist has held an hour that cannot be refilled at short notice. After two no-shows we will ask for payment up front.

Why does the consultation take twenty minutes?

Accepted Answer

Because a haircut is a set of irreversible decisions, and the only place to slow them down is before the scissors are in hand. We do it standing up, on dry hair, before the gown goes on, looking at growth pattern, density, hairline and what your mornings honestly look like. It feels long for the first three minutes and then it does not.

Do you cut curly and textured hair?

Yes, and we cut it dry, curl by curl, on unwashed hair styled the way you actually wear it. Wet cutting a curl pattern is a forecast rather than a measurement — shrinkage runs from a third to three quarters of the visible length and varies across a single head. Book Mika Oyelaran and allow ninety minutes; it cannot honestly be done in an hour.

How often should I come back?

It depends on the cut rather than on a rule. A skin fade is a two-week haircut whatever anyone tells you, because the base of the gradient starts at zero and any growth is visible. A taper holds for five or six weeks and a longer layered shape for eight to twelve. We give you your number at the finish, and it is usually not the one you expected.

What if I do not like the cut?

Say so in the chair, while there is still something we can do about it — anything adjustable, we adjust on the spot. If you get home and it is not sitting right, call within seven days and we will book a complimentary correction with the same artist. The same artist matters: they know exactly what came off and why.

Where exactly are you?

Unit 04, The Ironworks, 118 Halden Street, London E2 7QP — a converted workshop off the main run in Bethnal Green, with a plain steel door and no signage beyond the number. Bethnal Green station is about seven minutes on foot. If you find yourself outside a coffee shop you have gone one turning too far.

What are your opening hours?

Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00 to 19:00, with the last appointment taken at 18:00. Sunday is the walk-in window only, 11:00 to 16:00. We are closed on Mondays — the floor is used for training, and apprentices need a room with no clients in it.

Is the studio accessible?

Accepted Answer

The entrance is step-free from Halden Street and the main floor is on one level with room to move between chairs. The washroom is not fully accessible, which we are not happy about and are working on. Mention it when you book and we will hold the chair nearest the door.

What is the room actually like?

Accepted Answer

Quiet, warm and lower-lit than you might expect — six chairs rather than twelve, no television, and a playlist that sits under the conversation rather than over it. Nobody will ask about your holiday plans. If you want to talk you will find us good company, and if you want to sit in silence for an hour that is an entirely normal way to spend an appointment here.

How much product should I actually be using?

A pea. Genuinely a pea, not a fingertip, emulsified between dry palms for a full ten seconds until it turns translucent. Then work from the back of the head forward, mid-lengths first and roots last. Almost everyone does the reverse, which is why so many styled heads look heavy at the front and flat at the crown.

How often should I wash my hair?

Accepted Answer

Two or three times a week for most people. Daily shampooing strips the sebum your scalp then overproduces to replace, which is the real reason hair can feel clean at eight and greasy by six. Rinse with water on the days in between; it removes more than people assume and takes nothing useful with it.

Do I need to buy the products you used on me?

Accepted Answer

No, and we would rather you did not buy four of them. The finish at the end of your appointment is deliberately done the way you will do it yourself rather than the way that photographs best, so you leave knowing which single product, how much, and in what order. If what you already own does that job, keep using it.
